People struggling with mental illness are often told to “get over it”. In this cartoon, Dima Dupéré rejects this misconception and sheds light on how complex and multi-layered mental-health issues can be. While her cartoons often explore psychological services critically, Dupéré also emphasizes the importance of therapy in this illustration. The image stresses that patients should not have to get over their issues alone, but rather, they can benefit greatly by working through them with a professional. Dupéré, who works as a mental-health counselor, told the Trauma and Mental Health Report:

There can be hope, joy, and healing in the process.”
