People You May Know

In his spoken word poem, Kevin Kantor describes seeing his rapist being suggested under the ‘people you may know’ section on Facebook. Comparing the shock of seeing his rapist to witnessing the aftermath of a crime scene, Kevin illustrates the thoughts and emotions he experiences while clicking through his rapist’s photos and learning about him, ultimately bringing to life the person he actively buried. Kevin also bravely calls attention to the scrutiny, blame, and stigma men and boys receive after revealing their sexual assault. Holding back tears and with determination, Kevin ends his poem powerfully by proclaiming his worth.
