Renowned in the spoken word poetry scene, Rudy Francisco’s poem, “The Heart and the Fist,” is a narrative on toxic masculinity and how it’s effects have seeped into our society, negatively affecting the psyche of men. A Californian native, Francisco seeks to promote healthy dialogue, discourse, and social change through his poetry. In this video, Francisco performs his poem at a book release party at Icehouse in Minneapolis.
