The Proudfoot brothers are artists from New York City who have experience with mental health conditions and in psychiatric institutions and foster homes. While not much is known about the reclusive brothers, their artwork, often featuring scraps of prints they find in New York streets, has gained traction owing to their signature style – the faces in all the paintings are covered, such as in the mixed model painting.

Though the brothers haven’t commented on their signature mark, the painting remains to be interpreted by us. The Proudfoot brothers and their work has been featured at the Art in Mind exhibition, which features artwork by artists who struggle with mental health.
