Mental Health Superhero
In this TedTalk given at the University of Waterloo, Alicia Raimundo details her own experiences of overcoming suicidal ideation and suicide attempt as a young adolescent. She continues to suffer from both anxiety and depression, but is driven to eradicate the stigma associated with suicide by speaking out about her experiences. As a mental health advocate from the age of 13, Alicia has founded the online portion of Almond Health Emotional Well-Being Community website, and was on a panel of speakers for Canada’s Speak Out On Suicide program. She wants to inspire others to overcome suicide by sharing her story.
