Little Talks
The captivating lyrics of the song “Little Talks” by Of Monsters and Men are a hauntingly beautiful depiction of how anxiety and depression can impact relationships. The sentences from the female’s perspective speak to her anxiety; from her expressions of fear to her admissions of sleep deprivation, voices in her head and self-uncertainty. The man, presumably her late husband, provides her with constant reassurance through rational explanations for her paranoia, and reminders of joyful moments from their past. Where some partners may retreat from their loved ones due to a lack of understanding of mental illness, this brave gentleman stands beside his lover and gives her the words of encouragement she requires in the form of little talks.

I’ve always identified with this particular song, thanks for featuring it.
Robert T. Muller, thanks for the article post.Really thank you! Great.
My parents both passed away over the last three years and I very much relate to this song. Walking around ‘an old and empty house’, the problem with sleep deprivation because of my sleep apnea, and seeing the ‘ghost of you’ in having such vivid memories of Mom and Dad. This is one of the best, if not best track that there has been over the last two decades. Kudos to Of Monsters & Men for writing and performing it.
