Seven Fallen Feathers

Christian Morrisseau is an Ojibwa artist and the father of one of the seven indigenous students whose lives were taken in Thunder Bay. His painting, titled Seven Fallen Feathers, was created in response to the loss of his son and the injustices surrounding his and the other students’ deaths. The painting represents the students’ movement into the spirit world under the guidance of those who have passed before them. Through art, Morrisseau has taken a series of tragedies and turned it into a beautiful commemoration of spirit and life.
