How to Disappear Completely

Radiohead is an alternative rock band that is known to put out introspective and heartbreaking tracks about the darker aspects of life and “How to Disappear Completely” is a perfect example of just that.

“That there, that’s not me
I go where I please”

Suggests a state of dissociation where one frequently feels like they are in an out-of-body experience. In such a state, one often describes themselves as ‘not really being there’ which the artist expressed through these lyrics.

“I’m not here
This isn’t happening
I’m not here
I’m not here”

The haunting chorus is repeated throughout the song and really gets the message across that although fleeting, living in a dreamlike state of mind can feel very persistent and distressing as it seems impossible to get out of.

This song, which you can listen to here, is an equally entrancing and hallowing representation of dissociation.
