A View of the Asylum

“The Starry Night” is one of the most famous paintings by Vincent van Gogh, a post-impressionist painter, that depicts van Gogh’s view of outside his asylum room at Saint Remy de Province. Van Gogh is famous for admitting himself for treatment shortly after cutting off his own left year. Among his series of painting made of the asylum is “View of the Asylum and Chapel of Saint-Rémy”. This oil on canvas painting depicts van Gogh’s impression of what the asylum looked like from the outside. This painting helps add to our insight of van Gogh’s experience at the asylum.
