Finding Beauty in Ugliness

Finding Beauty in Ugliness

Canadian musician Matthew Good discusses his paralyzing battle with bipolar disorder in this TEDx Toronto presentation. He begins the story with his voluntary stay at a psychiatric hospital after a break down, and then describes how his lack of awareness about mental health made if difficult to understand why he suffered with symptoms. He also explains how mental illness is used against people who struggle with it, making it harder for them to cope with their circumstances. For him, the creative process has reflected his experiences of finding the beautiful in the ugliness.
