All Mad Here
In her series “All Mad Here”, Toronto artist Sarah Y. Varnam depicts mental health through an abstract lens. Her piece Social Phobia examines the unique, and not entirely pleasant, perceptions we have of ourselves in social situations. Varnam utilizes neuroanatomical imagery, alluding to the link between mind and body. The figure in the image is hunched over, nervous, sweating; a familiar state for those with social anxiety.
