Legendary Tom Waits
“Christmas Card from a Hooker in Minneapolis” is one of Tom Waits’ most iconic songs. In the first half of the song, the hooker presents her ideal life as reality. In the last half, she finally confesses that everything was a lie and tells the truth. This song portrays the difficulty of change, especially drug addiction, and the shame that follows with failing to change.

Oh, I love Tom Waits. And what a wonderful song. Gets you right where it hurts. Like so many of his songs. Don’t know how he manages to do that, song after song.
