Save Myself First

The song “Save Myself” by Ed Sheeran relays a strong message that can teach many of us a lesson. In the song Sheeran expresses that before he is able to love, care and “save” someone else, he must first be able to save himself and take care of himself. It is often human nature to try and take care of other people before ourselves. However, it becomes difficult to help others when we have been neglecting ourselves for so long. In order to truly be there for the people we care about, we must learn to practice self-care. Self-care is often overlooked but it is an important factor in bettering our mental health. Keeping this message in mind will help many of us think twice about bettering ourselves and making ourselves a priority before saving others.

I gave all my oxygen to people that could breathe
I gave away my money and now we don’t even speak

I drove miles and miles, but would you do the same for me?
